CATRIN hosted Networking with Prague.bio. The meeting brought together scientists, companies, and innovation institutions
Researchers from universities, representatives of companies, and institutions supporting entrepreneurship and innovation met at the Networking with Prague.bio event, which took place on March 3 at CATRIN, Palacký University. The aim of the meeting was to present CATRIN’s cutting-edge research and unique infrastructure, including specific examples of their practical use, and to introduce the activities of the Prague.bio platform focused on supporting innovation in biotechnology and biomedicine.
“As partners of Prague.bio, we wanted to take advantage of this platform’s resources and present CATRIN’s scientific, research, and commercial activities. The goal was to attract companies and possibly encourage them to collaborate on new products or their innovation strategies, at which I think we succeeded. Moreover, the event was attended by representatives of other universities who could become our partners in research. We are also pleased with the participation of the Innovation Center of the Olomouc Region, the Olomouc District Chamber of Commerce, and CzechInvest, who can spread information about us within their partner networks,” said Jiří Navrátil, technology transfer coordinator at CATRIN.
Petr Jakubec, head of the research group Synthesis and Characterization of Advanced Materials, presented the group and possible forms of cooperation with commercial companies to more than thirty participants. The program also included a tour of the CATRIN laboratories.
“The event met our expectations. The goal of Prague.bio is to connect both academic and commercial entities in the field of life sciences. That is why we greatly appreciate that Palacký University is a part of the platform, and this meeting at CATRIN was a good opportunity not only for our members to get to know each other and talk about innovations in the Czech Republic. It is necessary to connect both worlds and look for opportunities for cooperation. If scientists and companies do not know how they can be mutually beneficial, cooperation will never happen,” said Petra Kinzlová, director of Prague.bio.
CATRIN also presents opportunities and forms of cooperation with commercial partners on its website https://www.catrin.com/cs/business/.
