Advanced Hybrid Nanostructures for Renewable Energy Applications
Project director: Ing. Štěpán Kment, Ph.D.
The aim of this grant is to establish a unique, excellent, and sustainable scientific team, research infrastructure, and collaborative research network among prestigious research groups worldwide (Cornell University, iNANO-Aarhus Universitet, École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, Université de Nantes and Center for Superfunctional Materials of Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology).
The team is established at the Palacký University in Olomouc, Faculty of Science, Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials (RCPTM) and will be directed by Prof. Patrik Schmuki (H-index 81, laureate of ERC grant), who is an outstanding and world-renowned researcher in the fields of material chemistry, electrochemistry, photoelectrochemistry, and renewable energy. The project works on the basis of excellent long-term scientific outputs and the collaboration with RCPTM in the fields of nanotechnologies and materials chemistry.
The research programme is focused on the development of advanced hybrid nanostructured photoelectrodes for photoelectrochemical water splitting carriers resulting in brand new scientific results and applications. The project goal will be fulfilled by combining the complementary knowledge of Prof. Schmuki in the field of photoelectrochemistry and RCPTM experience in the field of hybrid nanostructures involving the first-rank facilities for nanomaterials research.
