The TECHSCALE workshop will bring together leading materials scientists
The international workshop ‘TECHSCALE – Beyond the Nanoscale’, which will take place on September 14 – 17 in Liblice, will bring together the world’s leading materials scientists.
Yury Gogotsi from Drexel University, a pioneer in the research of 2D materials and MXenes, Gianfranco Pacchioni from the Università Milano-Bicocca, a leading expert in theoretical and computational materials chemistry or Svetlana Mintova from the CNRS, an expert in nanoporous materials, particularly zeolites and other inspiring guests will be discussing the newest trends in development of materials and technologies with researchers involved in the project.
“In the TECHSCALE project, we are successfully using atom engineering not only to push the boundaries of current knowledge, but also to open up new possibilities for the practical application of advanced materials. The workshop is an opportunity for us to present the latest results, share experiences between individual teams and, above all, initiate new scientific collaborations and joint projects. We are delighted, that leading international experts have also accepted our invitation. “We do not simply wish to present what we have achieved at TECHSCALE, but to create an environment for open discussion, new ideas and the emergence of further international collaborations,” said Michal Otyepka from CATRIN, the principal investigator of the TECHSCALE project. According to him, some of the participants will also present their research findings in the poster session.
The TESCHSCALE workshop will welcome over 80 participants. In addition to representatives from the research teams, there will also be guests arriving from Poland, Japan, China, Spain, France, the USA and other countries.
In addition to CATRIN, which is coordinating the project under the Jan Amos Komenský Operational Programme, five faculties of Palacký University are involved. Charles University and CEITEC-VUT are also partners. The aim of TESCHSCALE is to design a new generation of nanomaterials for applications in energy, catalysis, sensing as well as theranostics. The common thread running through these new solutions is a ground-breaking method of atom engineering, which makes it possible to control the properties of materials right down to the atomic level. The project also includes an assessment of the societal impacts and public acceptance of the new technologies.

Project TECHSCALE (No. CZ.02.01.01/00/22_008/0004587) is financed by the MEYS OP JAC Excellent research programme, supported by ERDF/ESF.
